THIS CAN’T BE POSSIBLE TODAY IN NYC… CAN IT?

Over 100,000 chickens are slaughtered in the streets of NYC — We documented it.

Kaporos, Crown Heights, Brooklyn NY — Every September

Our new film, The Voting Bloc, documents the most insane, horrific, bonkers thing you’ve ever seen.

And it’s happening RIGHT NOW on the streets of NYC.

Watch as practitioners, activists and cops collide for 7 days during a truly absurd event that blurs the line between religious freedom, public health and extreme abuse.

No words can actually describe it, so we made this film…

Every year, more than 100,000 chickens are trucked into NYC, held in tiny crates without food, swung in the air, then brutally slaughtered right on the public streets.

Blood, feces and body parts contaminate sidewalks and sewers for days–in brazen violation of multiple health codes, yet most New Yorker’s (or anyone) don’t know about it.

It’s called Kaporos, an annual religious ritual practiced by sects of ultra-Orthodox Hasidic Jewish groups. And it happens with the full support of the Mayor and the NYPD.

Please note:

*This ritual takes place in other cities around the country/world.

*Besides the ritualistic swinging, this is not much worse than how the vast majority of chickens are treated at farms and factories around the world.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this film, as well as the hundreds of dedicated activists that weren’t featured but are doing this important work year in and year out.
